On searching the web prior to this trip, we could
find plenty of information on winter ski trips and also on the many
walkers routes which avoid the higher mountain sections. What we
wanted to do was the classic route, as described by Peter Cliff
in his book "The Haute Route". It had been waiting for many years
and this was going to be a memorable week. Inside you'll find a
day to day description, with photographs, of the tour. I've also
tried to include as many details as I could of things such as prices,
times, equipment, availability of provisions etc., which can be
difficult to find out beforehand, but which can make a trip so much
more enjoyable.
