In August 2002, Nigel Fenn, Bill Dean and I travelled from Grimsel in the east of the    Bernese Oberland to Fafleralp in the west. Within this the plan was fairly fluid, but if    things went well an ascent of the Finsteraarhorn was the number one objective.
